The language and function of sports stadia is inherently contradictory. The view from the outside is often monumental, powerful and exclusionary. In contrast, the interior of a stadium is engenders a welcoming, inclusive, collective experience and celebration of the game, if you are lucky enough to have a ticket...
This project, planned to be exhibited during the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, explores these contradictions in the stadium type by creating a model stadium that slips to simultaneously be both interior and exterior. You don't need a ticket, and there is no event inside, the experience of traversing the structure is the event itself.
